It has been and still is a very wet spring! We have been busy sieving, blocking sowing and growing for Spring. Seedlings are growing slowly and waiting to go to into the soil.

This Spring we are trialing quite a few different varieties and organic hybrids. It will be fun to find out how they perform in Melbourne and have the best of them available to share with others.

Cabbages are heading up nicely and our greenhouses and benches are all full. We have even lost our walk paths to seedlings.

Organic Locally Produced Seedlings at Alice House

Alice House is a community neighbourhood house in West Heidelberg.

Neighbourhood houses are not-for-profit centres where people of all abilities, backgrounds and ages can come to take up an activity for fun, develop new skills, meet new friends and volunteer.

Alice House was the home of Alice Bohn for many years. Alice was a gentle woman who cared deeply about her community and volunteered in many organisations. When Alice
passed away in 2012, her daughter Anne—Marie Harrison chose to honour her mother’s generous spirit and love of her neighbours, by asking Exodus Community, Olympic Adult
Education and SALT, to manage the house for five years for the sake of the community and local residents.

Local groups and individuals are encouraged to apply to use the house for meetings and gatherings. If you would like to support Alice House, please contact http://www.oae.vic.edu.au.

Since 2014, Olympic Adult Education has partner with KABUU to run a social enterprise micro-nursery at Alice House. All proceeds from seedlings and plants grown at Alice House goes back into the project.
