![]() Alice House is a community neighbourhood house in West Heidelberg. Neighbourhood houses are not-for-profit centres where people of all abilities, backgrounds and ages can come to take up an activity for fun, develop new skills, meet new friends and volunteer. Alice House was the home of Alice Bohn for many years. Alice was a gentle woman who cared deeply about her community and volunteered in many organisations. When Alice passed away in 2012, her daughter Anne—Marie Harrison chose to honour her mother’s generous spirit and love of her neighbours, by asking Exodus Community, Olympic Adult Education and SALT, to manage the house for five years for the sake of the community and local residents. Local groups and individuals are encouraged to apply to use the house for meetings and gatherings. If you would like to support Alice House, please contact http://www.oae.vic.edu.au. Since 2014, Olympic Adult Education has partner with KABUU to run a social enterprise micro-nursery at Alice House. All proceeds from seedlings and plants grown at Alice House goes back into the project. These are going to Paul @dayswalkfarm in Keilor. Great tasting spring vegs coming to your table soon. Look for Paul and his crew at your local farmers' markets around Melbourne.
Growing earth friendly seedlings for organic market gardeners around Victoria. We have been enjoying these yummy greens from our garden all winter long. They are now starting to bolt as the day lengthens. We will be planting our greens every 2-3 weeks from now for a continuous supply for our dinners.
Or pick them leaf by leaf or harvest the whole plant when they get to a good size. Clockwise from top left: Tatsoi, Mixed Asian greens pack, Tokyo greens, Red Choi |
