Who We Are

Ecological urban farmers with a social conscience.
KABUU is a social enterprise powering community-centered food production. We are enabling localised food production by sharing our technical knowledge, conducting research, and approaching urban farming from a systems perspective.

Our goal is to develop an urban farming model that is flexible, economically viable, socially and environmentally sustainable, and able to be replicated across Melbourne.
Our vision
A vibrant, sustainable environment where everyone has access to healthy and affordable fresh food grown within walking distance.

Our mission
To create an urban food system providing hyperlocal and affordable fresh food to all; while leaving the smallest possible ecological footprint.

Our Philosophy

We are committed to growing organically and sustainably.
We're thinking of the future. That's why we take sustainability seriously. In addition to growing organically, we put a lot of thought and effort into understanding the life cycle of our inputs. We source sustainable inputs, even when that means higher production costs. We believe it's worth it in the long run.

We grow organically. All our inputs are approved for certified organic production. No peat, no petrochemical derived fertilisers, no synthetic fertilisers, and no disposable plastic.

In our commitment to minimise our impact on the environment we are always seeking to innovate and adopt creative solutions to achieve our long-term goal of a completely sustainable food production system.

Whilst we strive to be as sustainable as possible we readily admit we are not perfect. We are conscious of our current limitations and continually thinking about how to further reduce our ecological footprint.
